Interlocking pavers and slabs
Cleaning with a rotary surface cleaner that applies even pressure across the full width. This prevents the zigzag sweep marks you see when the job is done with a wand. Joints are cleared of moss and weeds.
Poured concrete and slab
Poured concrete, finished concrete, garage or shed slab. Removal of the gray film, rust streaks, and organic deposits. Pressure is adjusted based on the age and condition of the surface.
Edging and steps
Concrete steps, paver edging, and block retaining walls get splashed and get dirty faster than the rest. They are treated during the same visit, with no additional travel charge.

Why interlocking pavers turn green so quickly here
In the Laurentians, most driveways are lined with trees. Shade keeps moisture in, conifer needles break down in the joints and form a growing medium, and algae settles on a surface that is rarely dry for more than two days.
A south-facing driveway on an open lot can go five years without turning green. The same driveway under spruce trees turns green in two summers. It’s not about paver quality, it’s about sunlight and drainage.
Joint sand: the detail everyone forgets
A properly done interlocking paver cleaning removes some joint sand. It’s unavoidable: it’s the same action that removes moss and roots. If the sand is not replaced, the pavers lose lateral support and start to move as soon as the first frost hits.
We tell you before we start, and we indicate the approximate amount to plan for. Polymeric sand is installed on a perfectly dry surface, so one or two days after washing, not the same day.
Oil stains, rust, and efflorescence
A fresh oil stain comes out well with a degreaser applied before washing. An older stain that has penetrated the concrete’s pores will fade without always disappearing completely. We tell you honestly beforehand, rather than promising a result we can’t guarantee.
Rust left by patio furniture requires a different treatment than regular cleaning. Efflorescence, the white haze that rises from concrete, sometimes returns after washing: it’s an internal chemical phenomenon in the material, not surface dirt.
When to have your interlocking pavers cleaned
Spring, once the frost is completely out of the ground, is the best time. The surface is dirty from the whole winter, and cleaning comes before installing joint sand and putting the furniture back.
Fall also works, especially to remove organic matter before it spends the winter in the joints. What we avoid is midsummer on a scorching surface, where products dry before they can work.
De-icing salt: concrete’s quiet enemy
The salt used in winter attacks the surface of concrete and makes it porous. In spring, you can see it as a whitish efflorescence and as concrete that picks up dirt much faster than the year before.
On interlocking pavers, salt concentrates in the joints and speeds up sand degradation. That’s one reason a garage driveway gets dirty faster than a back patio, with the same exposure.
Annual spring cleaning limits the damage. It won’t repair concrete that has already been attacked, but it prevents the cycle from getting worse year after year.

Will interlocking paver cleaning dislodge my pavers?
No, not with a rotary surface cleaner. The risk comes from a direct jet at close range into the joints, which digs and undermines them. The rotary head distributes the pressure and works at a constant height, which cleans the joints without emptying them completely.
Do I need to add sand back after washing?
Almost always, yes. Cleaning removes some joint sand along with the moss. Without replacement, the pavers lose their support and shift with the first freeze-thaw cycle. We will tell you how much to plan for before we start.
How much does it cost to clean an interlocking paver driveway?

Do you also do sealing?
We focus on cleaning and surface preparation. If you plan to seal your pavers, note that sealer is applied to a clean, completely dry surface, so a few days after our visit.

Yes. The products are biodegradable, and flower beds bordering the surface are rinsed with clean water before and after washing. On waterfront properties, runoff is directed toward vegetation upstream of the riparian buffer.
